DUNEZOKIT TRIPS / THE GUIDE

Going to a festival with friends? Plan beyond the line-up.

Make sure everyone has the right ticket, a way home and a meeting point they can find without a message. Then leave room to enjoy the music and follow different sets.

  1. Check everyone’s ticket access
  2. Arrange the journey home first
  3. Agree an offline meeting plan

Match the event, dates and ticket types

Compare the dates and must-see acts, then check exactly what each ticket includes. Day access, zones and camping may differ. Do not assume a concert ticket also covers accommodation, transport or every part of the event.

As a French reference point, the CNM’s 2024 study of supported music festivals, published in 2025 reports average capacity utilisation of 77% across its panel of more than one hundred contemporary music and variety festivals. This is not a worldwide figure or a measure of availability at your chosen event.

Use the event’s official ticket information to confirm access. Check individual tickets before committing the group to accommodation or travel that is difficult to cancel.

Work backwards from getting home

For a festival with friends, check the expected finish time against the last train, coach or shuttle. Include the walk to transport, parking access and the distance to your accommodation. If camping, read the event’s rules for equipment, arrival times and facilities.

  1. Agree a departure point and who is travelling together.
  2. Confirm what the tickets actually include.
  3. Book the required nights and check arrival arrangements.
  4. Keep a fallback if the schedule or transport changes.

Split common costs without splitting every purchase

Agree who pays shared costs upfront and who is included in each expense. Personal purchases do not automatically belong in the group budget. If the event uses its own cashless payment system, check its top-up and refund conditions directly.

Make the meeting plan work without reception

Choose a recognisable fixed landmark away from busy circulation routes and set a time. “Near the stage” is not specific enough. Agree what happens if someone misses the meeting and save the accommodation address before arriving.

Prepare ticket access using the issuer’s instructions; a screenshot may not replace a dynamic ticket. Do not share entry codes or barcodes in a Story. Save essential event information locally so the group is not dependent on everyone having reception.

Keep shared highlights and independent choices

Pick the performances you want to see together and let friends choose other sets independently. Allow time for walking, queues and meals. Read the organiser’s bag, water and prohibited-item rules before packing.

  • Do not leave the return journey undecided.
  • Do not assume everyone has the same access level.
  • Do not rely on the group chat as the only way to meet.
  • Do not promise a ticket transfer or resale without checking the ticket terms.
